This past Saturday we met up at The Crooked Stitch in Rocky Mount for our annual New Member Party! Thanks so much to our new members for coming out!
November is going to be a really fun meeting – we are having an auction! Bring anything you would like to auction off in our combination silent/live auction. You can bring yarn, books, scraps, tools, anything you want! If you are new to our meetings and would like more details, please contact us at email@example.com
See you on November 10th!
The first meeting of our guild calendar year is coming up on September 8th at 1pm. We are going to be meeting at our usual place – the Franklin County Library in Rocky Mount VA (it’s on the main strip, parking is in the back).
We are going to talk about several different things, including our October party and our November auction. This is a great meeting to come to if you are new or to bring a new friend to.
We are also going to be having a learn to knit/refresher course an hour before the meeting in the same room. Even if you have never knit, but have always wanted to, now is the time! We will even provide the needles and yarn. And probably snacks too!
Come on out and see what all the fuss is about!
We had a very fun meeting in May, despite it being a small group (next year we are going to make sure that the meeting does not coincide with the Mother’s Day weekend). Thanks you Whitney for teaching us about gauge and the importance of swatching to our finished projects.
In June we have lots of items to discuss, as it will be our last meeting until September. I hope everyone can make it! Sheila will be teaching a class on DPN’s and kitchener stitch.
The meeting will be June 9th at 1pm at the Franklin County Library in Rocky Mount.
Thanks to Dani and Mary for bringing show and tell items!
As always, we had a great time meeting up this month at the Rocky Mount Library. We talked about a couple of different business items, including the possibility of getting involved in some local Fairs this fall. We had a great show and tell this month too – a big thank you to Tiffany’s husband for taking pictures for us and doing some creative editing! You can check out more show and tell pictures here.
After show and tell we had a great discussion about Math for Knitters and how to alter patterns to fit your gauge or yarn choice. Amy Herzog’s Fit to Flatter series was also recommended for figuring out what kind of knitting will suit your body type.
Next month we will be meeting at the Olde Liberty Fibre Faire in Bedford for lunch. See you at 12pm near Dani’s (KSC Designs) booth!
Yesterday was our monthly meeting for the guild, at the Rocky Mount library. We had a good turn out, with lots of things to share!
Whitney's pretty scarf and Owls sweater
Norene's super cute teddy bear bib
Sheila working on one of her many charity hats!
Jean's got a charity hat too!
Julie's stunning lace shawl!
We definitely have a talented bunch!
After our show and tell and some great snacks (thanks ladies!) Jean taught a very detailed class on how to read charts. With lots of examples to see and to work on, I think we all came away with a better understanding of charts and how they work.
Thanks again everyone for coming out to a great meeting. We will see you all March 10th for our next meeting, when we will talk about Math for Knitters (don’t be scared, it will be fun, I promise).
Anyone is welcome to join us, so come on by the Franklin County library in Rocky Mount at 1pm on March 10th. No experience necessary!
